Barn Quilt Driving Tour

Enjoy the beauty of Madison County on a self guided driving tour of the county’s many barn quilts.

Getting its start as part of a grant awarded to the Madison County Arts Council in 2007, the Barn Quilt project was created as a way of honoring  the great traditions of this rural county while also showcasing its natural beauty.

Quilt patterns are selected, painted on wood, and attached to barns, homes, and businesses. Drive through the rural roads using a map of the county and the addresses of the quilts and you will be treated to some scenic views of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and rivers as well as the intricate and colorful patterns of the quilts. Some of these patterns have been handed down through generations while others are newly chosen favorites.

Maps  of the Marshall, Spring Creek, Mars Hill and Upper Laurel area trails are available for download at visitmadisoncounty.com
